Possibility of Interview with Command Before Investigation…Detention at Seoul Detention Center After Investigation
Yoon Seok-yeol, the President, appeared at the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) on charges of inciting rebellion and abuse of power. (Gwacheon = Yonhap News) Reporter Hwang Gwang-mo reported that President Yoon appeared at the CIO located in the Gwacheon Government Complex on January 15, 2025.
In Seoul and Gwacheon, Yonhap News reporters Lee Bo-bae, Jeon Jae-hoon, and Lee Min-young reported that President Yoon, who was arrested on charges of being the ringleader of a rebellion on January 15, was transferred to the CIO building.
The vehicle carrying President Yoon arrived at the CIO at the Gwacheon Government Complex at 10:53 a.m. President Yoon exited the vehicle and immediately entered the CIO building.
As the protective vehicle parked diagonally, President Yoon’s climbing the stairs into the building was barely visible except for a brief view from behind.
The CIO will soon begin an investigation against President Yoon as a suspect.
Cha Jung-hyun, the chief prosecutor, will conduct the investigation directly. Given the extensive questionnaire of over 200 pages, another chief prosecutor, Lee Dae-hwan, is also expected to participate in the investigation.
There is a possibility of President Yoon having a meeting with Director Oh Dong-woon or Deputy Director Lee Jae-seung before the investigation, as a courtesy to the sitting president.
After conducting the high-intensity investigation, the CIO plans to detain President Yoon at the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang City, Gyeonggi Province on the same day.
