Apple releases new MacBook, iPad, and Vision Pro featuring the new chip… Prices remain unchanged

Apple announced on the 15th local time that they will be launching new products including MacBook Pro, iPad Pro, and Vision Pro, all equipped with their next-generation self-developed chip, the ‘M5’.

These new products are available for pre-order starting today and will officially be released on the 22nd of this month.

Apple emphasized that the performance of the M5 chip installed in these products has significantly improved compared to the previous M4 version.

According to the company’s announcement, the M5 is built on 3rd generation 3-nanometer technology and introduces a next-generation 10-core graphics processing unit (GPU) with each core featuring a Neural Accelerator. This allows for dramatically faster GPU-based artificial intelligence (AI) tasks.

The M5 provides up to four times greater GPU computing performance and offers up to 45% improved graphics performance compared to the M4, Apple explained.

In the case of the new iPad Pro products, they provide up to 3.5 times improved AI performance compared to previous models with the M4 chip and support Wi-Fi 7 technology with Apple’s newly designed wireless networking chip, ‘N1’.

The iPad Pro will be available in 11-inch and 13-inch models, starting at $999 and $1,299, respectively, the same as before.

For the first time this year, South Korea is included in the initial launch countries for the iPad Pro, and it will be available for purchase domestically on the 22nd.

The new Vision Pro product, a mixed reality (MR) headset device, shows marked performance enhancements compared to the first version released last year.

While the previous Vision Pro had the M2 chip, this new product features the latest M5 chip.

Consequently, it enables an enhanced spatial experience and implements the Apple Intelligence feature with additional supported languages.

Additionally, it is equipped with a custom micro OLED display that shows clearer images than before.

Moreover, the battery life has been extended, and the band part in contact with the head when wearing the device has been improved with a ‘dual-knit band’ with cushioning to reduce fatigue and discomfort during extended wear. The price of Vision Pro remains starting at $3,499.

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro is the first in Apple’s laptop lineup to feature the M5 chip, offering faster AI and graphics performance than before, with battery life increased up to 24 hours. The starting price is the same as before at $1,599.
