The African Swine Fever (ASF) Central Accident Response Headquarters announced on the 14th that a pig farm located in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, reported cases of pig deaths. After conducting precise inspections, it was confirmed that African Swine Fever had occurred.
To prevent the spread of ASF, the response team has dispatched an initial quarantine team and an epidemiological investigation team to control the access of outsiders, livestock, and vehicles to the farm.
In addition, in accordance with the African Swine Fever Emergency Action Guidelines (SOP), authorities plan to cull the pigs currently being raised on the farm.
Furthermore, to block contamination in the affected area, the quarantine authorities are deploying available disinfection resources to intensively disinfect the pig farm in Yeoncheon County and surrounding roads.
To prevent further spread, the response headquarters issued a 48-hour suspension of movement order, from 8 PM on the 14th to 8 PM on the 16th, for workers and vehicles associated with livestock facilities such as pig farms, slaughterhouses, and feed factories in Gyeonggi Province’s Yeoncheon County, and the neighboring five cities and counties, including Paju, Dongducheon, Yangju, Pocheon, and Cheorwon in Gangwon Province.
