Actor Choi Jun-yong publicly supports Yoon following Kim Heung-guk and Kim Dong-wook, expressing regret that martial law ended after a few hours.

Actor Choi Jun-yong has publicly expressed support for President Yoon following singer Kim Heung-guk and JK Kim Dong-wook’s declarations of support. On January 4th, Choi took part in a public rally against the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol held near Donghwa Duty Free Shop in Jongno-gu, Seoul, where he delivered a speech.

During his speech, Choi expressed his surprise at the sudden declaration of martial law on December 3 of the previous year, stating that he was taken aback by how quickly the martial law ended. He expressed his wish that it had been carried out more thoroughly but acknowledged that he might not have understood President Yoon’s grand intentions at the time.

Choi criticized the anti-state forces he claims have surfaced and questioned why foreign entities like the Chinese Communist Party would involve themselves in South Korean affairs. He also accused the participation of spies from the Minjoo Party and criticized unauthorized protests held in Hannam-dong by urging protesters to leave the country if they disliked it.

Choi Jun-yong, known for his continued public support of President Yoon since the candidacy, attended Yoon’s inauguration in May 2022, alongside supporters like Kim Heung-guk and Dokgo Young-jae.

Recently, Kim Heung-guk and JK Kim Dong-wook have also expressed support for President Yoon’s martial law declaration. Kim Heung-guk, speaking at a protest near the presidential residence, argued that no president has done as well as Yoon, even calling on patriotic citizens to unite against opposition and expressing confidence in ultimate victory.

JK Kim Dong-wook posted on SNS, emphasizing the importance of protecting the president as a path to safeguarding the country. He intended to attend an anti-arrest rally for President Yoon and made dismissive comments towards the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials regarding their failed attempt to execute an arrest warrant against the president.

As the political climate surrounding the declaration of martial law and impeachment attempts extends beyond a month, opinions among celebrities remain divided, with some attending pro-impeachment rallies and others voicing support for President Yoon. The entertainment industry reflects these polarized stances.
