**Government Holds 7th Meeting of Gyeongju APEC Summit Preparatory Committee**

Lee Ju-ho, Acting President and Deputy Prime Minister cum Minister of Education, stated on the 22nd, “Our government should leverage the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) Summit, which we are hosting for the first time in 20 years, as an opportunity to demonstrate our leadership on the international stage and enhance the nation’s credibility.”

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Acting President Lee chaired the 7th meeting of the APEC Summit Preparatory Committee held at the Government Complex in Seoul on the same day and urged, “We must prepare even more thoroughly to ensure a successful and smooth hosting of the meeting.”

The APEC Summit is scheduled to be held in late October in Gyeongju, Gyeongsangbuk-do. In this meeting, the outcomes of the 2nd Senior Officials’ Meeting and sectoral ministerial meetings recently held in Jeju, as well as the appointment of Cultural Event Artistic Director (Director Yang Jeong-woong), were reported and discussed.

Additionally, preparations for the APEC Summit were checked, including measures for aviation, transportation, and medical care, as well as economic events like the CEO Summit and the APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC). Participants agreed to continuously encourage participation from heads of state and business leaders worldwide.
