A pregnant foreign woman who collapsed at Incheon Airport gives birth in an ambulance after searching for a hospital for over two hours.

[Financial News] A pregnant foreign woman collapsed at Incheon International Airport and gave birth in an ambulance after searching for an obstetrics hospital for over two hours.

According to the Incheon Fire Department on the 17th, a report was received by 119 at 12:20 p.m. the previous day that a woman had collapsed on the third floor of Incheon Airport’s Terminal 1.

The paramedics dispatched to the scene found a 31-year-old Vietnamese woman identified only as A.

A, who was presumed to be pregnant, complained of abdominal pain but was unable to communicate. The paramedics prepared to transport her to Inha University Hospital. However, the hospital reportedly stated that they couldn’t accept a maternity patient, and other nearby hospitals also indicated they couldn’t take her.

The paramedics then contacted the 119 emergency situation management center to find hospitals in the Seoul and Gyeonggi areas but were informed that they couldn’t provide treatment unless her gestational age was confirmed.

While A was waiting in the ambulance in front of Inha University Hospital, she experienced extreme labor pains, and her water broke. The firefighters prepared for an emergency delivery, and A successfully gave birth to a baby boy in the ambulance at 2:33 p.m., 2 hours and 13 minutes after the initial report.

A fire department official stated, “We proceeded with the emergency delivery in the ambulance as the labor pains intensified while looking for another hospital.” After the delivery, the mother and the newborn were transferred to Inha University Hospital for treatment.
