A person in their 40s stabbed an acquaintance and stole valuables, claiming, “Because they were showing off their money.”

A 40-year-old man has been arrested by the police for stabbing an acquaintance with a weapon and fleeing with stolen valuables from an officetel in Bucheon. The Bucheon Wonmi Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced plans to apply for an arrest warrant for suspect A on charges of attempted murder during a robbery.

Around 2:50 a.m. on the 27th, A is accused of stabbing his 50-year-old acquaintance, identified as B, multiple times in an officetel in Jung-dong, Bucheon, then fleeing with 5 million won in cash and jewelry valued at approximately 15 million won. The police, responding to a report, apprehended A about 6 hours and 40 minutes later, at approximately 9:31 a.m., in the Bupyeong district of Incheon.

Initially arrested on charges of attempted murder, the police amended the charges to attempted murder during a robbery after discovering the stolen items at the scene. During police questioning, A reportedly stated that he committed the act impulsively because B had been flaunting his money.

B has been transported to a hospital by EMTs and is reported to be in stable condition. The officetel where the crime occurred is identified as B’s residence. A police spokesperson mentioned that all the stolen items have been recovered at the scene and that they plan to conduct further investigations to clarify the details of the crime.
