A man in his 30s, who killed a stranger and used the victim’s fingerprints to take out a loan of 60 million won, has been handed over to the prosecution after being arrested.
The Gyeongbuk Gimcheon Police Station announced that the man, identified as A, was arrested and sent to the prosecution on charges including robbery and murder on the 28th of last month.
A is accused of stabbing and killing a man in his 30s, identified as B, on the 12th of last month at an officetel in Gimcheon City, Gyeongbuk.
A was caught by the police in a parking lot in Gimcheon a week after the crime.
It was found that A, struggling with financial difficulties, was roaming around the officetel looking for a target and confessed to the police that he killed B in front of B’s house after B told him to leave.
During the crime, A used the victim’s ID and cash card to treat wounds at a hospital and spent hundreds of thousands of won at convenience stores, taxis, and accommodation facilities.
When B’s cash card ran out of money, A used B’s fingerprints from B’s body to take out a loan of 60 million won via mobile phone, although he did not use the amount.
When B’s parents reported to the police that they could not contact B and tried to make contact, A sent a false text message from B’s phone saying “I’m not home.”
Just before his arrest, A caused a commotion by telling his own parents that he would commit suicide after killing someone, and when the police arrived following his parents’ report, he denied the charges.
However, when the police secured evidence of the crime, A confessed.
At the time of A’s arrest, B’s body was found wrapped in plastic in his residence, with no significant signs of damage, according to the police.
A is reported to have no previous criminal record.
The police conducted a psychopathy test on A, but the results have not yet been released.
