A heavy snow warning has been issued, and up to 15 centimeters of additional snow is expected in Gangwon Province and northern North Gyeongsang until today afternoon. In Ulsan and the mountainous areas of Jeju Island, there will be light snow and rain until the morning, and in the late night, snow or rain will begin in the Seoul metropolitan area and Chungnam, expanding to most parts of the country by tomorrow. Tomorrow, the mountainous areas of Gangwon and the northeastern mountains of North Gyeongsang are expected to receive heavy snowfall of up to 20-30 centimeters, with 3-10 centimeters of snow also expected in the metropolitan area.
This morning, the inland and mountain temperatures have dropped below freezing again, indicating a cold snap. Today’s daytime temperatures will be 6 degrees in Seoul, 8 degrees in Gwangju, and 9 degrees in Daegu, dropping by up to 4 degrees compared to yesterday, and the wind will make it feel even colder. High wind warnings have been issued, particularly along coastal regions, with gusts exceeding 20 meters per second in some areas.
Waves at sea will be very rough, with heights ranging from 2 to 4 meters across all East Sea areas and the distant waters of the West Sea and South Sea, reaching up to 5 meters in some places. The cold snap is expected to continue until Wednesday, with the daytime temperature in Seoul rising to a mild 15 degrees again on Thursday.
