[고성=뉴시스] By Shin Jung-chul, Goseong, Gyeongnam = A man in his 70s identified as Mr. A, who went missing after being swept away in floodwaters in Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, was found dead about 12 hours later.
According to the Gyeongnam Fire Headquarters and others, a report that a man believed to be Mr. A was found was first made at 6:05 a.m. on the 6th, and his identity was confirmed, after which he was handed over to the police.
Mr. A went missing on the 5th at around 5:33 p.m. near the Daegaje Reservoir in Cheokjeong-ri, Daega-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gyeongnam, after being swept away in floodwaters.
Mr. A shouted, “Save me!” and a resident who witnessed this reported it to the emergency services, prompting the dispatch of 44 personnel, including 26 volunteer firefighters, for a search operation. However, the search was called off as darkness fell.
The search was resumed at 5:42 a.m. on the 6th, and at 6:05 a.m., a resident found Mr. A about 300 meters away from the initial report location and reported it.
