**Nature Index Policy Forum & AI New Materials Research Forum:**
An international event where the latest research trends in AI semiconductors, autonomous laboratories, and autonomous robots for material development will be shared, allowing discussions with ‘Nature’ journal editors, will be held at KAIST next February.
KAIST announced on the 4th that it will host the ‘2025 Nature Conference’ from February 5th to 7th at the Daejeon KAIST main campus Academic Cultural Center. The event, co-hosted with the international journal Nature, will start with the Nature Index Policy Forum on the 5th, followed by sessions sharing the latest research trends in AI and new materials under the theme “Materials for AI, AI for Materials” on the 6th and 7th.
Especially, as the Nature Index released an analysis result in the Korean special edition this year stating that “Korea’s R&D performance in science and technology is surprisingly low compared to the input in manpower and budget,” the policy forum will discuss the direction of Korea’s science and technology R&D.
Panel members include Cassidy Sugimoto, Dean of the College of Public Policy at Georgia Tech, Sotaro Shibayaba, Professor at the University of Tokyo, and John Walsh, Distinguished Visiting Professor at KAIST.
The following “Materials for AI, AI for Materials” conference will feature four keynote speakers including Christine Persson, a renowned expert in AI new materials from the University of California, Berkeley, four Nature editors including Christina Kare, Senior Editor, and a total of 25 experts including KAIST faculty and 17 speakers.
Furthermore, KAIST and Nature will select outstanding abstracts submitted for this event. Selected individuals will have the opportunity to present their papers in the ‘Short Talk’ sessions during the event, with awards to be given to the best participants in the final session of the conference.
The conference will be conducted in English and is open to researchers and industry professionals in materials science, physics, and chemistry. The registration fee is $800 (109,000 Korean won) for the general public and $700 (96,000 Korean won) for students, with a $100 discount for early registration.
The early registration deadline is the 8th, with the final registration deadline on January 31, 2025. Registrations can be made on the Nature Conference website.
