Integrated Support for Technical Requirements and Standard Architecture Design, “SK AX announced on the 31st that it has launched a ‘Carbon Data Response Integrated Support Service’ for domestic manufacturing companies in preparation for the EU’s supply chain regulations. The plan is to provide a practical alternative covering the entire supply chain by supporting the establishment of a carbon data strategy that aligns with ESG (Environment, Social, Governance) standards while protecting sensitive information.”
According to the EU’s Sustainable Product Design Regulation (ESPR), which came into effect in July last year, products distributed in the European market must submit ESG information such as product composition, raw material sources, carbon emissions, and recycling history in the form of a Digital Product Passport (DPP). As a result, industries with high carbon emissions, such as batteries, steel, textiles, and electronics, find that data design, integration, and protection capabilities are becoming export competitiveness factors.
“SK AX plans to respond to these EU regulations and provide custom services that can be connected to the Korean data ecosystem. This is achieved by not only addressing technical requirements and standard architecture design but also implementing data infrastructure that can connect with the global ecosystem while safely protecting sensitive information.”
SK AX has already completed technology verification by conducting a data linkage demonstration project between European automotive companies and domestic parts partners. Last month, they obtained the qualification as a Catena-X official onboarding service provider (OSP), meeting the essential technological requirements for DPP response through connector-based data transmission and reception, digital twin-based standard format design, and data pipelines.
Furthermore, SK AX plans to offer solutions that provide integrated support for companies’ enterprise-wide ESG data strategies. Utilizing the experience of building ESG data platforms within the SK Group, the company will execute tasks ranging from product unit DPP data design and sensitive information protection systems, to securing international standard compliance, and implementing tracking solutions and systems.
Kim Min-hyuk, Head of SK AX’s Manufacturing/Global Business Division, stated, “Based on the verified technological capabilities through government projects and collaborations with European automotive companies, SK AX will support domestic manufacturers in securing global competitiveness through strategic responses aligned with ESG standards and protection of sensitive data.”
