Samsung unveils the ‘Galaxy S25 Edge’ with a thickness of 5.8mm… Betting on an ultra-slim phone.

**Weight: 163g… Maintains Flagship Performance**
**Adds Front Camera Log Video Feature**
**Equipped with Ultra-Level 200MP Rear Camera**
**Competition with Slim Phones to be Released in the Second Half**

On the 13th, Samsung revealed the ‘Galaxy S25 Edge,’ the thinnest smartphone in its Galaxy S series history, stepping into the competitive realm of ultra-slim phones.

Samsung Electronics held the “Galaxy S25 Edge: Beyond Slim” event online through Samsung.com at 9 AM on the 13th and unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge. As part of the S25 series, this new product reduces its thickness to 5.8mm and its weight to 163g, while maintaining flagship-level performance akin to other S25 series model. Acting Head of Samsung Electronics DX Division (President) Tae-moon Roh stated, “The S25 Edge transcends the limits of ultra-slim technology to revolutionize user experience,” and hailed it as a new category in the industry blending design and engineering.

**● Entering the ‘Ultra-Slim Competition’ with 5.8mm Thickness**

At the Samsung Gangnam location in Seocho-gu, Seoul, the device was compared side by side with the existing Galaxy S25 Ultra (8.2mm, 218g), S25 Plus (7.3mm, 190g), and S25 (7.2mm, 162g), showcasing its notably thinner profile. The display size of the S25 Edge is similar to the S25 Plus, while its weight is comparable to the S25. This demonstrates how the device maintains light weight while increasing screen size compared to the standard S25 model.

The S25 Edge is 2mm thinner than Apple’s iPhone 16 (7.8mm). As Apple is also expected to release an ultra-slim smartphone in the second half of the year (July-December), the competition in reducing smartphone thickness is expected to intensify.

Samsung has emphasized durability with the reduced thickness. The front display of the S25 Edge features ‘Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic2,’ a new mobile glass material enhancing resistance to damage and fractures. The frame uses high-strength titanium, and it supports IP68 water and dust resistance. To address heating in its thinner design, the device includes a redeveloped, thinner, and broader vapor chamber for heat management.

**● Maintaining Flagship Performance Despite Slimmer Thickness**

The two rear cameras, re-engineered to match the thinner design, support a 200MP wide-angle lens and a 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The inclusion of a 200MP camera is only found in the high-end models, S25 Ultra and S25 Edge, of the S25 series. The S25 Edge’s front camera supports ‘log video’ shooting, which facilitates easy video correction and editing. Compared to the S25 and S25 Plus, the camera sensor’s light-absorbing cells are 40% larger, enhancing brightness and clarity for night photography. AI editing functions like audio erasure and generative editing, features of the Galaxy S25 series, are fully supported. Vice President of Samsung Electronics’ MX Division, Seong-Dae Cho, explained, “The S25 Edge includes all functions installed in the S25 series, plus the front camera log video feature.”

The S25 Edge is equipped with the same Qualcomm ‘Snapdragon 8 Elite’ application processor (AP) as other S25 series models. The on-device AI performance matches that of the other S25 series. Personal information processed by the Galaxy S25’s on-device AI is secured and separately stored in a hardware security chip via ‘Knox Vault.’

The Galaxy S25 Edge is available in three colors: Titanium Silver, Titanium Jet Black, and Titanium Ice Blue. The 256GB model is priced at 1,496,000 KRW, and the 512GB model is priced at 1,639,000 KRW. The new product is scheduled to officially launch on the 23rd, with pre-orders available from the 14th to the 20th.
