“Receive 119 Consultation Even Abroad”… LGU+ Launches Campaign with the National Fire Agency

LG Uplus and the National Fire Agency have announced that they are launching a promotional campaign for the “Overseas Citizens 119 Emergency Medical Consultation Service,” a service available to citizens abroad who can use it in emergency situations.

The “Overseas Citizens 119 Emergency Medical Consultation Service” allows individuals who encounter unexpected illnesses or injuries while overseas to consult with emergency medicine specialists and situation officers stationed at the National Fire Agency. The agency provides information on first aid methods, purchasing and taking medications, and using local medical facilities.

Citizens abroad can access this service 24/7, 365 days a year. It can be accessed via phone, email, the 119 Safety Reporting Center website, and social media.

The service launched in 2018, and by December of the previous year, it had recorded a cumulative total of 18,040 consultations. The service was used 4,901 times last year, with an average of 13.4 overseas citizens accessing it daily.

Anticipating an increase in overseas travel demand due to May Family Month and the summer vacation season, LG Uplus and the National Fire Agency have selected major domestic airports as key promotional locations.

LG Uplus plans to place promotional brochures for the service in its roaming centers at Incheon, Gimpo, and Gimhae airports and explain related inquiries. They will also support the National Fire Agency by installing promotional banners and broadcasting detailed information about the service on their electronic displays. The National Fire Agency will also strengthen online promotion through promotional videos and social media and launch on-site events.

Lim Hye-kyung, head of LG Uplus’s tariff and partnership product division, stated, “We will continue to strengthen our cooperation with the National Fire Agency to support public safety workers’ activities for citizens’ safety.”
