RaonSecure has established itself as a key player in the Japanese digital authentication market by securing over 10 million users. AI security and authentication platform company RaonSecure (led by CEOs Soon-Hyung Lee and Jung-Ah Lee) announced on the 6th that the Japanese monthly active users (MAU) for its AI-based biometric authentication platform “TouchEn OnePass” surpassed 10 million last month.
TouchEn OnePass is a service that supports easy and secure personal authentication using biometric information such as fingerprints, facial recognition, and veins, without the need for a password or separate certificates. The subscription model structure allows for subscriber growth to directly lead to performance growth, making the expansion of MAU connect to stable recurring revenue generation.
Technically, it was the first in the world to receive a standard certification from the global biometric authentication organization, FIDO Alliance, and recently established an active security system that immediately detects and blocks abnormal behavior using AI.
Since its initial introduction of TouchEn OnePass in the Japanese market in July 2020, RaonSecure has steadily continued its efforts to penetrate the market. Notably, last year it expanded its presence by signing a supply contract worth approximately 3.5 billion won with Japan’s largest internet bank, Sumishin SBI Net Bank, and its subsidiary Neobank Technologies.
Simultaneously, as adoption across various sectors such as finance, education, and research institutions increased, the number of users has been rapidly rising. After securing 5 million MAU in approximately four years post-launch, it took less than two years to secure an additional 5 million. The growth rate more than doubled after the initial market entry, with recent monthly average user growth of about 200,000 users.
This indicates that TouchEn OnePass has moved beyond the initial adoption stage and entered a phase of marked expansion in the Japanese market. The strategic anticipation and commercialization of FIDO-based authentication amidst the expanding demand for passwordless authentication and strengthening security regulations in Japan have been effective.
Surpassing 10 million MAU is significant as it demonstrates potential for expanding business beyond merely increasing overseas subscribers to entering the broader Japanese digital trust market. The accumulated operational experience in the finance, education, and research sectors is expected to serve as a base for further market expansion.
RaonSecure plans to expand its digital trust infrastructure business in response to the increasing importance of identity verification and access control amid the spread of agentic AI. Moreover, it is focusing on enhancing the authentication system that encompasses both users and AI.
Soon-Hyung Lee, CEO of RaonSecure, stated, “Surpassing 10 million MAU for TouchEn OnePass shows that our technological strength and localized service strategy have translated into success in large-scale real usage environments,” adding, “With the growing importance of digital authentication due to the spread of agentic AI, we aspire to become a digital trust infrastructure company embracing both people and AI in the global market.”
Meanwhile, RaonSecure participates in the FIDO Alliance Board alongside Google, Microsoft, Samsung Electronics, Amazon, and Apple, exercising voting rights, and is strengthening its position in international digital authentication standards discussions in addition to its overseas market achievements.
