Pearl Abyss Holds ‘Dingading Project’ Hackathon for Elementary Students

Pearl Abyss held a hackathon event called the ‘Dinga Ding Project’ for elementary school students nationwide on the 20th and 21st of last month. The ‘Dinga Ding Project’ is a social contribution initiative by Pearl Abyss that began with the intention of “coding the potential of coding.” Since its first project in 2022, it has been actively supporting education to help students from underserved regions nurture their dreams of game development.

The ‘Dinga Ding Project’ ran from September to November, targeting elementary students across various regions in South Korea, including Dongducheon/Yangju in Gyeonggi-do, Inje in Gangwon-do, Mokpo in Jeolla-do, Jinju in Gyeongsang-do, and Seocheon/Geumsan in Chungcheong-do. Participants experienced different aspects of game development such as game design, programming, and art, and created innovative games in teams.

Students who performed exceptionally well during the preliminary rounds were given additional online educational opportunities to continuously enhance their skills. Outstanding participants from the preliminary rounds were invited to Pearl Abyss’ headquarters, ‘Home One’, to compete in the final hackathon on the 20th and 21st of last month. During their visit, students toured the headquarters, experienced game production firsthand, and received mentoring and feedback from Pearl Abyss developers, making it a meaningful experience.

Pearl Abyss is expanding the number of participants and the scale of the ‘Dinga Ding Project’.
