The “AI Semiconductor Field Business Integration Seminar” will be held by the government to support the early commercialization of domestic NPUs (Neural Processing Units). The seminar will take place on the 11th at 2 PM in the middle conference room 8 of the Korea Science and Technology Center in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul.
On the 10th, the Ministry of Science and ICT (hereinafter referred to as the Ministry) announced the integration seminar for the AI semiconductor project, which was organized with a supplementary budget in May. The AI semiconductor projects, for which 49.4 billion won has been allocated as supplementary funding, include the enhancement of AI computing demonstration infrastructure, AX demonstration support, timely support for AI semiconductor commercialization, and overseas demonstration support.
The Ministry plans to invest a total of 243.4 billion won in AI semiconductor research and development, demonstration, and talent development, including the supplementary projects. The new project participants are being recruited via a notice from May 29 to June 30.
This integration seminar serves as a platform to explain the project details to companies before the execution of the supplementary projects and to gather their feedback, with an open Q&A session across all aspects of the projects.
Additionally, an AI semiconductor fabless industry roundtable will be held in conjunction with the seminar. Companies poised to launch server and edge-oriented NPUs and enter the market will attend to discuss ways to invigorate the domestic AI semiconductor industry ecosystem.
Park Tae-wan, director of the Information and Communication Industry Policy at the Ministry, stated, “We will continue to listen to feedback during the project’s execution to provide substantial support to domestic fabless companies and ensure the early commercialization of domestic NPUs.”
