NCSoft Reports Operating Loss of 7.5 Billion Won in Q3 Due to Retirement Severance Pay (Summary)

[Financial News] NCSoft reported an operating loss of 7.5 billion won in the third quarter of this year.

On the 11th, NCSoft announced its third-quarter financial results (based on consolidated data), with revenue recorded at 360 billion won, an operating loss of 7.5 billion won, and a net income of 347.4 billion won.

Revenue decreased by 6% compared to the previous quarter and by 10% compared to the same period last year. The operating profit turned into a deficit due to one-time costs (severance pay). Net income turned positive, reflecting the proceeds from the sale of NC Tower 1.

Revenue by region was 217.8 billion won in Korea, 67.5 billion won in Asia, and 28 billion won in North America and Europe. Royalty revenue amounted to 46.8 billion won. Overseas and royalty revenue increased by 23% compared to the same period last year, accounting for 40% of the total revenue. Growth was driven by the launch of ‘Lineage 2M’ in Southeast Asia, increased sales of ‘BNS NEO’ in China, and increased sales of ‘Lineage M’ in Taiwan. By platform, PC games recorded 87.7 billion won in revenue, and mobile games 197.2 billion won.

NCSoft is preparing to showcase new games at G-Star 2025, an international game exhibition opening on the 13th in Busan, with its largest-ever experience space (300 booths). A large-scale demo booth for ‘Aion 2’, releasing on the 19th of this month, will be available. They will also present ‘The Cinder City’, ‘Limit Zero Breakers’, and ‘Time Takers’, which are under development with a target release in 2026. One undisclosed new title will be unveiled for the first time at G-Star.

Aion 2 will begin a pre-download and character customization event on the 16th, along with expanding server capacity and opening new servers. Aion 2 is set to launch services in Korea and Taiwan at midnight on November 19.
