LG Uplus announced on the 19th that it received an award from the Personal Information Protection Committee for its excellence in launching a voice phishing detection feature in its mobile AI agent ‘ixi-O’. This recognition comes as a result of LG Uplus’s proactive technological measures and development of an AI-based spam message detection and blocking system to prevent telecommunication and financial fraud such as voice phishing, contributing to customer protection acknowledged by the Personal Information Protection Committee.
This year, LG Uplus has contributed to preventing actual damages by establishing a comprehensive response system to collect, analyze, and block voice phishing and smishing data, in collaboration with various relevant organizations. In particular, they have partnered with the Personal Information Protection Committee, National Forensic Service, Financial Supervisory Service, and Korea Internet & Security Agency to utilize data, which has undergone a depersonalization process, in AI learning. They have also improved detection accuracy using real voice phishing report information from the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency and malicious app URL information from the Financial Security Institute.
The mobile AI agent ‘ixi-O’, launched in November, features real-time voice phishing detection during customer calls, effectively safeguarding customer safety by detecting voice phishing in real-time and providing warning alerts. Additionally, they have introduced an AI-based filtering model that improves spam message filtering accuracy to over 95%, playing a significant role in preventing smishing damages.
