LG CNS announced on the 17th that it has entered into a strategic partnership with the American AI robotics company, Skild AI, to target the industrial AI humanoid robot market. This collaboration includes an investment through LG Technology Ventures, and LG CNS plans to develop AI humanoid robot solutions tailored for industrial settings such as manufacturing and logistics, based on Skild AI’s Robot Foundation Model. The Robot Foundation Model aids robots in autonomously acting and interacting with their surroundings by learning from data such as images, text, voice, and video.
LG CNS plans to utilize this technology to create solutions that can perform high-intensity and repetitive tasks or work in hazardous environments, which are challenging for existing robots. This solution can be applied in areas such as factory equipment monitoring, assembly, hazardous substance handling, and logistics center sorting and stocking. In urban environments, it can also be used as service robots for elderly care and patrolling.
Additionally, LG CNS intends to offer integrated AI humanoid robot services to customers across various fields, including smart factories, smart logistics, and smart cities. This service will be comprised of Skild AI’s Robot Foundation Model, LG CNS’s robot control and operation platforms, smart factory and logistics solutions, as well as robotic hardware from partner companies.
Lee Jun-ho, head of LG CNS’s Smart Logistics & City Division, stated, “We will support the intelligence of customer operations and drive business outcomes through AI humanoid robots,” and added, “We aim to enhance the technological capabilities of intelligent AI robot services through collaboration with Skild AI.”
