KT is narrowing down the candidates for the next CEO to 3 or 4 individuals today… The results will be announced in the afternoon.

[Digital Daily Reporter Oh Byung-hoon] KT is narrowing down its shortlist of CEO candidates once more. After conducting online video interviews with the seven previously selected candidates, the company plans to finalize a shortlist of three to four candidates.

According to industry sources, KT will conduct video interviews with the seven CEO candidates on the 9th. Based on the interview results, they plan to announce the shortened shortlist around 6 PM that evening.

KT will then conduct in-person interviews with the shortlisted candidates on the 16th and will select one final candidate for the CEO position. The selected candidate will be confirmed as the official CEO following a resolution at next year’s regular shareholders’ meeting.

Previously, the KT Director Candidate Recommendation Committee selected seven candidates from a total of 33 applicants who underwent the first round of screening. The shortlist includes Kim Cheol-soo, former CEO of KT Skylife, Kim Tae-ho, former CEO of Seoul Metro, Nam Kyu-taek, Vice Chairman of Zinus Air, Park Yoon-young, former Head of KT’s Corporate Division, Lee Hyun-seok, Head of KT’s Customer Division, Joo Hyung-chul, former member of the National Planning Commission, and Hong Won-pyo, former CEO of SK Shieldus.

Once the list is narrowed down to three or four candidates, the process of appointing KT’s new CEO will enter its final stage. The new CEO will need to address major issues such as the recent unauthorized small payment hacking incident and the development of the AI business. Furthermore, as the selection process for KT’s CEO has been previously criticized for being influenced by political winds, there is keen interest from the industry in whether governance improvement will occur after the change in administration.
