KT has recently hired several executives from Microsoft Korea, indicating “visible outcomes in the B2B sector.”

Kim Young-seop, the CEO of KT, as part of his first personnel announcements of the new year, has brought in executives from Microsoft (MS) Korea. In his New Year speech, Kim stated his intention to achieve remarkable results in the B2B sector through collaboration with MS.

According to the telecommunications industry on the 3rd, KT made its first personnel appointments of the new year the previous day and appointed Jeon Seung-rok, formerly of Korea MS, as the head of the GTM division in the Strategy and Business Consulting Department. Jeon was responsible for the Azure cloud service business at Korea MS. The GTM division under the Strategy and Business Consulting Department is tasked with discovering, proposing, and supporting the execution of AI transformation (AX) strategic projects.

Kim Won-tae, who previously served as the Head of Enterprise Global Business at Korea MS, was also recruited as the head of the Strategic Customer Business Division under KT’s Enterprise Division. Song Seung-ho, the former team leader responsible for the Azure Business Group at Korea MS, now leads the ‘SPA division,’ which focuses on strengthening partnerships with tech companies like MS, both domestically and internationally. Additionally, Park Chul-woo, who has experience as the head of SMB sales at AWS Korea, joined as the head of the Financial Business Division under the Enterprise Division.

CEO Kim sees this year as a pivotal one for KT’s transition into an AICT (AI + Information and Communication Technology) company. He emphasized that the top priority is achieving significant results in the B2B sector through MS collaboration. Last year, KT formed an AI alliance with MS and committed to investing 2.4 trillion KRW over five years. In consideration of the Korean market environment, KT plans to launch public and financial sector cloud services in the first quarter of this year.
