The Ministry of Science and ICT, along with the Korea Artificial Intelligence and Software Industry Association, announced on the 2nd that they had signed an “AI Full-Stack Cooperation MOU” between seven domestic AI companies and Aramco Digital, located in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

Aramco Digital is a digital subsidiary of Saudi Aramco, the world’s largest energy company, leading Saudi Arabia’s AI transformation. The Ministry of Science and ICT expects that this cooperation will provide more opportunities for our companies to participate in AI adoption and utilization projects in Saudi Arabia’s energy, manufacturing, and other local industries.

Through this MOU, both sides plan to explore a cooperation scope optimized for the industrial environment in Saudi Arabia based on Korea’s full-stack AI technology and jointly discover application cases.

Aramco Digital will identify areas with potential for AI application across its vast industrial domains within the Aramco group, such as energy and manufacturing, and review specific application plans.

Korean AI consortium participants will align their key capabilities and technologies from a full-stack perspective to meet the demands identified by the Saudi side, providing optimized solutions in AI semiconductors, industry-specific large language models (LLM), and cloud infrastructure operation and management. In the field of industry-specific AI models, NCAI, Upstage, and LG AI Research will participate. The management of LLM operations and services will be handled by Uracle, and MegazoneCloud will be responsible for building and operating cloud and AI infrastructure.

The Ministry of Science and ICT explained that this cooperation has significant meaning as a practical entry case in the form of a “Korean AI Full-Stack” package that integrates AI semiconductors, models, and infrastructure beyond individual corporate entry. The government plans to make the integrated competitiveness of the Korean AI industry evident in the Middle Eastern market, utilizing this as a standard model for overseas market entry in the future.

Ryu Je-myung, Second Vice Minister of Science and ICT, stated, “Recently, a global AI evaluation institution has clearly identified Korea as the world’s third-ranked nation, reflecting unprecedented global interest in K-AI. This cooperation will serve as a crucial turning point in proving the competitiveness of a ‘Korean AI Full-Stack’ in the global market and linking it to substantial export outcomes.”

He added, “With this achievement, we will not spare any support to help our companies create more global success stories in emerging markets, in joint efforts between the government and the private sector.” – Reporter Park Se-jung
