Participants pose during the ‘AI Top 100 Campus’ event held at Kakao AI Campus on the 4th. [Photo = Kakao] ‘Kakao Group announced on the 6th that it held an AI competition for students called ‘AI Top 100 Campus’ at the Kakao AI Campus in Gyeonggi Province on the 4th.’
‘This event was co-hosted by Kakao Impact and Brian Impact and sponsored by the Ministry of Science and ICT and Kakao.’
‘The ‘AI Top 100’ event, which was held last November for all age groups, was organized this time for students to support talents leading the AI industry in Korea.’
‘The online preliminaries held on the 14th of last month attracted applications from over 3,000 students nationwide. Together with college students from various majors, students from general high schools, special-purpose high schools, vocational high schools, and meister high schools participated, showing a high level of competence.’
‘The 100 finalists who passed the fierce preliminaries solved complex problems by utilizing various AI tools based on their creativity and technical skills in the final round.’
‘The grand prize, awarded by the Ministry of Science and ICT, was taken by Lee Jung-hoon, a freshman at Soongsil University. Lee said, “Through this competition, I was able to verify my own abilities and it became an opportunity to study AI more deeply.” The gold prize was awarded to Hwang Cha-bin from Konkuk University and Mun Jung-yun from Korea Aerospace University.’
‘Ryu Seok-young, director of Kakao Impact, stated, “‘AI Top 100 Campus’ was a meaningful platform to verify the potential of future AI talents,” and added, “We will continue our efforts to expand AI utilization capabilities and nurture talents for the entire nation.”’
