Hong Beom-sik, newly appointed CEO of LG Uplus, on his first day: “A solid foundation is essential for greater progress.”

Hong Beom-sik, the new CEO of LG Uplus, marked his first official day at work on the 2nd by sending an email greeting to all employees titled “I want to create a better future with you than today.” He emphasized that just like people, a company must have a strong core; solid fundamentals are essential for larger growth and advancement.

CEO Hong identified the key elements for sustainable growth and creating a better future for LG Uplus as customer value creation, unique competitiveness, and basic skills like quality, security, and safety. He stated, “Focusing on competition might get you to second place, but focusing on customers can make you first. It is necessary to see things from the customer’s perspective and innovate to meet needs that the customers themselves might not even recognize yet.”

He further explained that “unique competitiveness is built by accumulating small successes, tackling small things one step at a time from a long-term perspective to achieve greater accomplishments.”

He stressed the importance of unity in achieving these three key elements, stating, “I consider each member of Uplus important, no matter which organization or position they are in. I believe that if we all unite and strive to satisfy customers in our respective roles, our future will be brighter.”

Meanwhile, CEO Hong was appointed as the new CEO of LG Uplus by the board on the 21st of last month. His official term will begin at the next shareholder meeting.
