Hancom’s operating profit in the first quarter is 8.4 billion KRW, up 31.7% compared to the previous year.

Hangeul and Computer, commonly known as Hancom, announced on the 12th that its consolidated sales for the first quarter reached 60.9 billion won, with an operating profit of 8.38 billion won, reflecting year-on-year increases of 11.5% and 31.7%, respectively. The company attributed this achievement to a strategic shift towards a service-oriented software (SaaS) business structure, which has enhanced both profitability and stability.

Web-based, non-install SaaS products, such as Web Gian Ki and Web Hangeul, are rapidly expanding, especially within the public sector. The revenue proportion of these product lines grew from 9.3% in 2023 to 27% last year, reaching 29% in the first quarter of this year. Notably, revenue from non-install products grew by 108.4% compared to the same period last year, establishing Hancom’s new growth engine. Traditional software products also maintained steady demand, providing a stable foundation for a cloud transition.

In its sixth shareholder letter, Hancom outlined a roadmap to becoming an ‘AI-centric enterprise’ and unveiled strategies for technological and business expansion. Last year, multiple Proof of Concept (PoC) projects centered around Hancompedia and Hancom Assistant were executed, with actual supplies reaching major institutions such as the National Assembly this year.

Hancom plans to launch an advanced version of the Hancom Assistant and the Hancom AI Agent within the year. Furthermore, Hancom aims to diversify its AI portfolio beyond document-related technologies by aligning capabilities in data visualization, personal safety, and drone-utilized video/data collection from its subsidiaries. This expansion will cover various sectors, including finance and public safety.

CEOs Byeon Sung-joon and Kim Yeon-soo stated, “Hancom has laid the groundwork for strategic business expansion through AI-based innovation,” and expressed their intent to focus all efforts on expanding Hancom AI’s value chain and extending business to global markets.
