Wave, an online video service (OTT), announced on the 25th that it has secured broadcasting rights for the ‘2024 Paris Olympics’ and will provide real-time broadcast and sports-related content.
This year’s Paris Olympics will see 15,000 athletes from 206 countries competing in 32 sports, including 144 athletes from South Korea. The games will take place against the backdrop of Paris landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Champs-Elysées, and Versailles Palace. It is noteworthy that this year’s event includes dynamic young sports such as skateboarding, surfing, and sport climbing, as well as the newly adopted official event of hip-hop dance battle ‘breaking’.
The opening ceremony scheduled for the early hours of the 27th (Korean time) will be held in the city rather than at the stadium, with teams from various countries entering on boats against the backdrop of the Seine River in Paris.
Wave users will be able to watch live broadcasts of terrestrial channels such as KBS1, KBS2, MBC, and SBS, as well as replays of key matches, highlights, and various sports-related entertainment, dramas, and movies on a dedicated page for the Paris Olympics. Programs featuring Olympic athletes, documentaries, and interviews will also be provided.
Hwang In-hwa, head of Wave’s content group, said, “Starting from the ranking rounds of archery ahead of the Paris Olympics opening, you can enjoy it on Wave,” and added, “We hope you can enjoy the Olympics conveniently with Wave’s sports-related content.”
