Com2uS announced on the 31st that it has signed a global publishing contract for the game based on the “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” IP, which is currently being developed by Offbeat. Com2uS has established a strategic partnership with Offbeat through its investment, securing publishing rights for the game based on “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” aiming to service the game domestically and globally in the future.
“Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” a web novel by author Sing-Shong, tells the story of Kim Dok-ja, an ordinary office worker who struggles to see the ending he desires when the novel he has read for over ten years becomes reality and the world undergoes upheaval. The web novel has garnered more than 200 million accumulated views. The webtoon adaptation, overseen by Redice Studio and produced with the participation of Studio 3B2S, was launched on Naver Webtoon in 2020 and has achieved over 2 billion accumulated views worldwide with webtoon releases and standalone publication.
In 2024, the series is being adapted into an anime with a contract involving a famous Japanese animation production and distribution company. Currently, it is also being made into a blockbuster film starring well-known Korean actors, further solidifying its status as a highly anticipated K-content.
The new game based on the “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” IP is being developed into a blockbuster title, maximizing the appeal of the original IP that has both Korean and global fanbases. Com2uS, in collaboration with Offbeat, intends to focus their development and business capabilities to elevate the game to a leading global title.
Offbeat was established in May 2024 by CEO Moon Sung-bin, who previously led Netmarble Blue. Moon founded Blue Pepper in 2009, developing titles such as “Sticker Shooting Star” and “Run & Hit,” later joining Netmarble to lead projects like “Magumagu 2013,” “Everyone’s Dungeon King,” and “KON.” After the merger with Netmarble N2, he oversaw the development of “Tower of God: New World.” Offbeat’s team includes key developers such as An Seong-won, the art director of “The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross,” and is preparing its first project based on the “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” IP.
