“AI is a Digital Colleague” – Microsoft Unveils AI Agent Implementation Cases in Domestic Companies

**LG Electronics, SK Innovation, Amorepacific, and Other Major Korean Corporations Adopt MS Azure OpenAI and MS 365 Copilot**

[IDaily Journalist Yoon Jeong-hoon] Microsoft (MS) has integrated agentic AI across corporate systems to revolutionize work processes and accelerate business outcomes, and on the 25th, it unveiled the success stories of pioneering Korean corporate clients.

MS is supporting customers and partners in major global industries in transforming their businesses by adopting an “AI-first” strategy, with over 85% of Fortune 500 companies already on board. In Korea, the pace of AI-centered work innovation is also accelerating. According to the Work Trend Index 2025, released by MS in May, 77% of Korean leaders expect to leverage digital workforces to enhance employee capabilities within the next 12-18 months.

In this movement, major organizations in Korea’s key industries, such as △KB Life △LG Electronics △SK Innovation △Amorepacific △Emart △POSCO International △Hanwha △Hanwha Qcell, are achieving tangible results.

KB Life has improved the efficiency of core tasks like document processing, meeting minutes preparation, and schedule management by adopting MS 365 Copilot. It has automated the summarization of vast documents and repetitive processes, enhancing work speed, with this transformation spreading across internal collaboration and decision-making processes. Recently, the scope has been expanded through change management training and customized agent development.

LG Electronics’ HS Division developed the enterprise big data analysis AI platform, CHATDA, based on MS Azure and Azure OpenAI solutions. This has dramatically increased the speed of improving product quality and gaining customer insights from the vast amount of data collected from tens of millions of home appliances worldwide. CHATDA has raised service quality by applying agentic AI concepts for question classification, code generation, and response automation. It has also contributed to increasing R&D speed and competitiveness by expanding to include unstructured data/documents, allowing knowledge and expertise in home appliances R&D to flow more swiftly within the company. CHATDA is evolving into an AI agent platform that enhances the competitiveness of LG Electronics’ home appliances business by connecting its core intellectual assets through AI.

SK Innovation adopted a generative AI platform based on MS Azure and applied AI to various tasks in the oil refining and petrochemical sectors. This made the previously repetitive and time-consuming work, such as engineering data search, analysis, data processing, and report writing, much simpler and more efficient. Furthermore, by connecting with collaborative tools like Power Automate, Azure OpenAI, and Teams, it has created an environment supporting automated repetitive tasks and intelligent workflows. As the foundation for employees to directly use and develop AI has expanded, an AI innovation culture led by the field is taking root.

Amorepacific developed the AI Beauty Counselor (AIBC) to offer personalized beauty consultations based on MS Azure OpenAI, formulating utilization strategies to secure stability, safety, and quality. It established an agentic AI architecture where role-specific agents collaborate, enhancing the professional quality of responses by integrating field data and internal systems, and it’s also creating optimized workflows and collaboration networks between AI agents and humans.

Emart combined MS 365 Copilot and the Power Platform to automate repetitive tasks and enhance work efficiency throughout its headquarters and stores. Employees have developed various agents, like an HR FAQ chatbot and a buyer’s agricultural product price exploration tool, improving department-specific efficiency. By integrating with ERP data, efforts are underway to innovate buyer operations. Particularly, selected personnel in each team design necessary agents directly for their team, supported by the IT department, achieving tailored automation in practice. These changes go beyond mere question-and-answer levels, reducing unnecessary work while automating core tasks, spreading innovation across customer service and internal operations.

POSCO International built a framework to analyze and utilize company-wide data through the MS Azure Fabric-based data platform, enhancing data management and work efficiency. By utilizing features like natural language query data extraction, Power BI, Copilot, and Azure OpenAI, efforts are being made to reinforce AI and data-centered decision-making, considering an environment where employees can analyze data and apply predictive models.

Hanwha adopted AI agents based on Copilot Studio to automate department-specific tasks linked to internal knowledge while simultaneously enhancing security and productivity. It operates agents like the “Regular Meeting Report Agent,” which supports management reporting, and the “Environmental Regulation Review Agent,” which automatically checks for environmental compliance. Currently, it is accelerating company-wide AI innovation by developing autonomous AI agents.

Hanwha Qcell leverages various AI and IoT solutions like MS Azure AI, Power Platform, and Fabric to innovate its business model through software-based energy value chain expansion and real-time energy optimization. It has implemented AI automation cases specialized for the energy industry, such as analyzing solar and energy storage permit documents, predicting energy-saving effects, and forecasting grid service revenues. Through AI-based simulations and automated workflows, the speed to market has improved by over 30%, achieving tangible results like energy cost savings, carbon emission reduction, and strengthened grid stability.

Joo Won-woo, CEO of Microsoft Korea, stated, “Now, AI is being integrated across corporate systems as a digital colleague of employees, not just a standalone solution.” He emphasized, “AI innovation is quickly spreading across various aspects of work such as collaboration, quality, and decision-making.” He further stated, “MS will continue to actively support major domestic industries in adopting AI as a growth engine and advancing as frontier companies”.
