“(Seoul=News1) Reporter Yang Sae-rom = The Ministry of Science and ICT held the ‘IIM 5G Policy Conference’ at COEX in Seoul on the 17th.
This event was organized to share the achievements of the IIM 5G convergence service demonstration and to gather policy opinions for the private sector-led expansion of IIM 5G.
First, Professor Kim Woo-yong from Sejong University delivered a keynote speech on the topic ‘Future Industry Prospects through the Convergence of IIM 5G and Existing Industries’, and Kim Dong-wook, head of the Korea Radio Promotion Association, presented the operational achievements of the ‘IIM 5G Alliance.’
Following this, the government introduced the key achievements of the ‘5G Industry Convergence Foundation’ project, which it has been promoting to expand IIM 5G convergence services.
At the booths, attendees could directly experience services such as immersive playground facilities, XR (Extended Reality)-based collaborative combat training, and lightweight autonomous mobile robots.
Song Sang-hoon, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, “IIM 5G is a network equipped with ultra-high speed, low latency, and high security, and is establishing itself as a core infrastructure that accelerates AI and digital transformation in various fields such as manufacturing, logistics, and education.” He added, “We will continue to support the proactive expansion of IIM 5G in the private sector to further promote AI and digital transformation in our industry.”
