Na Kyung-won: “It’s fortunate that the public is aware of the Democratic Party’s actions”
On the 3rd, President Yoon Seok-yeol met with members of the People Power Party, including Emergency Response Committee Chairman Kwon Young-se, Floor Leader Kwon Seong-dong, and Representative Na Kyung-won, to discuss the December 3 martial law measures. President Yoon stated, “I could no longer just watch as parliamentary dictatorship through impeachment attempts and budget cuts paralyzed the government. I felt a heavy sense of responsibility to take such measures.”
Representative Na shared that President Yoon, during a visit at the Seoul Detention Center in Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, expressed that “with the single-party dictatorship of the Democratic Party in the National Assembly, any governmental operation was impossible. As the President, I felt the heavy responsibility to resolve this issue somehow.”
President Yoon added that “through this martial law, it is fortunate that the public became aware of the various actions of the Democratic Party that essentially paralyzed the government.”
Na further mentioned that President Yoon requested the party to unite and play a role in creating hope for the public, including the youth in their 20s and 30s. She also conveyed that he is concerned about various international affairs and the global economy concerning South Korea.
Regarding the discussions between President Yoon and the emergency response committee chairman and the floor leader, Na said, “We also talked about the current parliamentary situation and the biased behavior of some Constitutional Court judges during the trial process.”
