Former People Power Party member Yoo Seung-min commented on the “traitor frame” surrounding him, saying, “I think it was the price of taking the right path.” On the 19th, Yoo appeared on ‘YTN Radio News Fighting,’ where he mentioned, “In politics, I have only thought about the country and the people, and what is right,” adding, “I believe it is the consequence of consistently speaking according to my conscience.”
He stated, “I think the (traitor) frame is 100% a wrong frame,” and acknowledged, “Although I don’t agree with it, it is true that it has made my political path thorny and difficult for a long time.”
Additionally, Yoo expressed a desire to reconcile with former President Park Geun-hye. He said, “It’s a thought I’ve had for a long time,” and added, “It’s been over 10 years, and I hope to resolve misunderstandings and reconcile, even on a personal level. I believe that day will come someday.”
When asked if there had been any contact from Park’s side, Yoo replied, “It’s difficult to go into detail. It’s not progressed enough to be revealed to the media, but I’m making efforts through various channels.”
Asked what he would say to former President Park, Yoo responded, “I would naturally ask if she’s in good health,” and noted, “Because of the relationship between us, you might have been quite upset, but I believe many of those stories will naturally come up in the process of resolving misunderstandings.”
Regarding the impeachment situation, Yoo emphasized, “The most important thing is President Yoon Suk-yeol’s promise to accept,” stressing that “it is the least duty to the people as the President.”
He added, “Another important figure is the opposition leader. Lee Jae-myung must also clearly accept it,” pointing out that “whether a President or an opposition leader, political leaders need to do that to heal the current division and conflict.”
