The temporary public holiday for the Lunar New Year has been finalized for the 27th… If you take a vacation, you can rest for up to 9 days.

The government has designated January 27th, the day before the Lunar New Year holiday, as a temporary public holiday to stimulate domestic consumption and boost tourism. The decision was finalized in a Cabinet meeting, despite some opinions suggesting the 31st might be more effective. This designation means that from Saturday the 25th to Thursday the 30th, people will have a six-day break, which can be extended to a nine-day holiday if employees take a leave on the 31st. The decision also considered factors such as easing traffic congestion and providing longer rest for certain industries. The government will take further steps, like publishing the decision in the official gazette, and ensure that public services and childcare facilities are prepared to minimize inconvenience for citizens.
