The president says, “We must shed light on the darkness of the rebellion to open the door to national unity.”

President Lee Jae-myung emphasized that, with the first anniversary of the martial law crisis approaching, it is crucial to fully unveil the shadows of insurrection hidden in various places to truly open the door to a just national integration.

During a Cabinet meeting held at the Yongsan Presidential Office today (the 2nd), President Lee stated that the revolution of light, crafted by the collective intelligence of the people, has driven away the darkness of insurrection night and has opened a new dawn where South Korean democracy shines brightly again.

He further mentioned that over the past six months, the people’s sovereignty government has been fully committed to restoring the lives of the people and normalizing the state, citing the conclusion of customs negotiations with the United States and the confirmation of constructing a nuclear-powered submarine.

Additionally, he remarked on plans to award commendations and certificates to people who collaborated in preventing martial law and upholding the constitutional order, and to devise ways for the spirit of people’s sovereignty to be remembered for generations.

Moreover, President Lee instructed Minister of Justice Jung Sung-ho that individuals who have committed acts like instigating military coups and infringing on personal rights using state power should face eternal criminal prosecution, similar to how Nazi war criminals are dealt with, and that their heirs should also be held accountable to the very end.
