The People Power Party plans to respond with a ‘filibuster on all agenda items’ when controversial bills are introduced.

**People Power Party Forms ‘Guard Team’ to Respond to Filibuster**

On December 8, the People Power Party announced that they would conduct unlimited debates (filibuster) on all bills scheduled for future plenary sessions if the Democratic Party of Korea does not express their intention to forgo submitting controversial bills.

In a notice sent to floor members, the People Power Party stated, “During the caucus, it was decided that if the Democratic Party of Korea does not declare they will avoid tabling contentious bills, we will initiate unlimited debates on every item tabled in future plenary sessions.” They added, “If a plenary session is held tomorrow (December 9), we plan to submit a filibuster application for all tabled items to the Secretariat Office.”

The party also plans to form a ‘guard team’ to remain in the plenary chamber while the filibuster is ongoing. The agenda for the plenary session will be confirmed after a meeting between Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly, and the floor leaders of both parties on December 9.
