The Democratic Party criticized the People Power Party, calling it a “rebellion-aligned party” and accusing it of “plotting a second rebellion despite the severe judgment from the public, obstructing state affairs, inciting conflict and hate, and opposing reform, thus hindering South Korea’s future.”
The Democratic Party resolved, through the ‘2025 National Regional Committee Chairpersons Workshop Resolution’, held for a two-day, one-night schedule starting yesterday, to “bring the corrupt and incompetent local government of the People Power Party to justice with an overwhelming victory in next year’s local elections.”
Representative Jeong Cheong-rae stated, “The success of the Lee Jae-myung government is the most important, followed by the success of the Lee Jae-myung government, and again, the success of the Lee Jae-myung government.” He emphasized the importance of unity as “the first, second, and third priority for winning next year’s local elections.”
He insisted on a solid alliance and cooperation with “one team and one voice” with the government, pledging to remain strong and cohesive until the end of the Lee Jae-myung administration. He urged the party, government, and presidential office to work together as a “unified community” to achieve the most overwhelming victory possible.
Kim Byung-ki, the floor leader, also remarked that “the goal is to drive the success of the Lee Jae-myung administration through victory in the 2026 local elections,” stating that “the success of Lee Jae-myung’s government is the future of the Democratic Party, and the victory in the local elections is the hope of the public.”
