The Democratic Party says “Justice will prevail”… People Power Party remains ‘silent’ [Kim Kun-hee’s Arrest]

Yoon’s wife, Kim Keon-hee, has been taken into custody following former President Yoon Seok-yeol’s arrest. The ruling Democratic Party welcomed the court’s decision to issue an arrest warrant for Kim, calling it “inevitable.”

On the 13th, Democratic Party leader Jeong Cheong-rae stated at the party’s supreme council meeting at the National Assembly, “The arrest of Kim Keon-hee is inevitable,” and added, “This will be recorded as the first in constitutional history and one of the biggest stains in our history.” He noted that the arrest stemmed from numerous attempts to destroy evidence and obstruct investigations, emphasizing, “The public demands a thorough investigation and punishment for the Yoon-Kim couple’s alleged abuse of power and corruption. We hope the special prosecutor will use this arrest as a foundation to fully uncover the truth that has been concealed.”

The Innovation Party also promptly responded to the news about Kim’s arrest warrant. Yoon Jae-gwan, the chief spokesperson, stated in a commentary released at 12:27 a.m. through the party’s public relations office, “The arrest of Kim, who was an endless source of wrongdoing, is a case of reaping what one sows.”

Reform Party spokesperson Kim Young-im observed, “Like even the most splendid flower cannot last more than ten days, those who privatize power and betray the public trust will see their splendor scatter like fallen leaves.” She cautioned that this warning applies not only to past powers but also to those currently holding power, asserting, “The saying ‘power doesn’t last ten years, and no flower stays red for eleven’ applies to them as well.”

On the other hand, the People Power Party was reserved about Kim’s arrest. Song Eon-seok, the acting leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, stated on YTN Radio’s “News Fighting with Kim Young-soo” that he had nothing specific to say about the issuance of the arrest warrant for Kim. He added only that he hoped the special prosecutor’s investigation would proceed lawfully, properly, and fairly.

Previously, the special prosecutor team investigating Kim applied for her arrest warrant on the 7th, a day after questioning her on the 6th.
