The duties of Major General Park Jin-hee of the 56th Division have been suspended due to suspicions of external pressure in the investigation of Sergeant Chae’s death in service.
The Army announced that it has enforced a separation dispatch to suspend General Park’s duties in relation to the special investigation into the Marine’s death.
General Park is under investigation on suspicions of having issued directives to reduce the scope of investigation targets when he was serving as the military aide to former Defense Minister Lee Jong-seop during the time of Sergeant Chae’s death.
