It has been reported that the Seoul Shilla Hotel decided to support the full cost of wedding ceremonies after a controversy arose from the hotel’s unilateral cancellation of some weddings due to a national event.

According to industry sources on the 24th, the Seoul Shilla Hotel recently informed customers whose weddings were canceled that they could reschedule to a desired date and that the hotel would cover the full cost of the ceremony, including meal and facility use fees.

Although the total cost varies greatly depending on choices such as floral arrangements, a wedding at the Seoul Shilla Hotel is known to cost between 100 million to 200 million won.

The beauty creator Kim Seubseub (real name Kim Chaewon), who has 680,000 subscribers, revealed that an average of 60 to 70 million won is spent just on floral arrangements for a wedding at the Shilla Hotel.

Meal costs start at 200,000 won per person, and if wedding noodles are added, it becomes 210,000 won per person.

He shared that he spent approximately 90 million won solely on meals, which included one bottle of champagne, 64 bottles of wine, 36 beverages, and 5 orange juices, and the total cost paid for the wedding venue amounted to 196,936,962 won.

In the hotel industry, it is considered both unusual and an extraordinary move for a hotel to cover the entire cost of a wedding.

Previously, Seoul Shilla Hotel informed some of its customers that their reservations were being changed due to an unavoidable national event scheduled for early November, effectively canceling their wedding dates.

Although details about the national event were not disclosed, it was speculated to be related to the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit to be held in late October in Gyeongju.

The APEC summit is expected to be attended by leaders such as U.S. President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
