Recent public opinion polls indicate a turnaround in support for President Lee Jae-myung’s administration, which was declining following the pardon of former leader of the Innovation Party, Cho Kuk.

On the 8th, Realmeter, commissioned by the Energy Economy Newspaper, conducted a survey from the 1st to the 5th involving 2,519 voters nationwide aged 18 and older. The results showed that 56.0% of respondents positively evaluated the president’s performance, up by 2.4 percentage points (p) from the previous week.

The percentage of respondents who negatively evaluated the president’s performance was 39.2%, down 3.1%p from the previous week, while 4.8% answered “don’t know.”

Realmeter analyzed that the positive response was influenced by policies directly related to the people’s livelihood, such as the declaration of drought disaster in Gangneung, regulation of delayed wages as a serious crime, and directives to improve regional price gouging.

Meanwhile, in a party support survey conducted on the 4th to 5th with 1,005 voters nationwide aged 18 and older, the Democratic Party recorded 44.6% and the People Power Party 36.2%.

Compared to the previous week, the Democratic Party’s support decreased by 2.1%p, while the People Power Party’s support increased by 0.1%p. As a result, the gap between the two parties’ support narrowed from 10.6%p last week to 8.4%p this week. Support for the Innovation Party was 2.7%, the Reform Party 4.5%, and the Progressive Party 1.3%.

Both surveys were conducted using wireless automatic response methods.

The margin of error for the presidential performance approval survey is ±2.0%p at a 95% confidence level, and the margin of error for the party support survey is ±3.1%p at a 95% confidence level.
