The People Power Party responded to the proposal from Han Dong-hoon, the representative of the party, to broadcast the entire dialogue between the ruling and opposition party leaders, expressing that there is no justification to oppose the live broadcast of the dialogue.
According to Kwak Kyu-taek, the senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, the method of live broadcasting is merely a procedural issue, and there is no reason for the opposition party to feel uncomfortable about it.
Earlier, Park Jeong-ha, the chief of staff of the People Power Party who participated in the working-level negotiations for the inter-party dialogue, suggested to the media yesterday, “What if we make the entire dialogue public from start to finish, if the Democratic Party agrees?” However, the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Democratic Party, Lee Hye-sik, expressed that leaking undisclosed content to the media is impolite and uncomfortable.
Kwak, the senior spokesperson of the People Power Party, questioned the reason behind the opposition party’s discomfort with the live broadcast proposal, mentioning the change in stance from Governor Lee Jae-myung, who was reluctant to agree to a public policy discussion a year ago.
Kwak criticized the Democratic Party’s derogatory remarks about showing the inter-party leaders engaging in discussions before the public as strategic, emphasizing that if the Democratic Party does not consider the inter-party dialogue as a bridge to a meeting with the president, they should approach the discussion more seriously instead of just expressing discomfort.
