“Haneok-su, resolve the unconstitutional state immediately and focus on uniting national strength”
On the 27th, Park Chan-dae, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated, “The Democratic Party will establish a task force at the party level to support large-scale wildfire damage, actively engaging in firefighting, providing assistance to the displaced, restoring damage, and preparing measures to prevent recurrence.” He urged, “President Haneok-su and the Constitutional Court should fulfill their duties immediately.”
During a policy coordination meeting at the tent office in front of Gwanghwamun, Seoul, Park emphasized, “Protecting the lives and safety of the people is what politics should do.”
Park further stated, “Acting President Han should address the unconstitutional state immediately according to the Constitutional Court’s decision and unite efforts to overcome national disasters,” pointing out that it has been 92 days since the National Assembly passed the consent for the appointment of constitutional judges and 29 days since the Constitutional Court declared the non-appointment of candidate Ma Eun-hyuk as unconstitutional.
He criticized, “It is a clear contradiction for Acting President Han to profess respect for the Constitutional Court’s decisions while refusing to appoint candidate Ma,” and urged the immediate resolution of the unconstitutional state and efforts to unite national strength in overcoming national disasters.
Addressing the Constitutional Court, he remarked, “Ending the insurrection is a critical issue that determines the survival of the Republic of Korea and the lives of its people,” questioning how long they are expected to wait and whether the reasons for any delay should at least be explained.
He continued, “Fundamental doubts about the very existence of the Constitutional Court have grown considerably,” demanding the court set the date for a ruling immediately and dismiss Yoon Seok-youl by tomorrow, warning that it’s a mistake to think that the people will continue to tolerate waiting.
