Park Chan-dae: “We must secure the Legislation Committee and the Steering Committee… We may also propose a bill for supporting people’s livelihoods.”

During an interview on MBC Radio’s ‘Kim Jong-bae’s Focus’ on this day, Floor Leader Park said, “I clearly stated in my candidacy press conference that I will secure the positions of chairman of the Steering Committee and Legislation and Judiciary Committee.”

He explained, “We were a single party with 180 seats in the 21st National Assembly, but because we yielded the positions of the Steering Committee and Legislation and Judiciary Committee, if the chairman of the Legislation and Judiciary Committee did not present an opinion, the only way to break through was through the fast track according to the National Assembly Act.”

He further stated, “Even if it took one to two years to pass the bill through the fast track after a long-standing conflict, there were too many delayed decision-making processes that hindered political efficacy, such as the President vetoing afterwards” and expressed, “The 22nd National Assembly Speaker’s Office will move swiftly like a mobile troop.”

Regarding the organization of the floor, he said, “It is agreed to distribute proportionally according to the number of members” and explained, “If there is no agreement reached in the discussion resulting in the suspension or delay of the National Assembly proceedings, it seems appropriate to be decided by the majority rule according to the National Assembly Act.” He added, “The outcome may result in taking all the positions of permanent committee chairs, or the decision may vary depending on the situation.”

As for the first bill to be proposed in the 22nd National Assembly, Floor Leader Park stated, “We can propose a law that includes giving 250,000 KRW to each person,” and also mentioned, “We plan to prioritize the 9 bills that President Yoon Suk-yeol exercised veto power on or if necessary, we will submit a package bill.”

Furthermore, regarding Prosecutor General Lee Won-seok’s directive to investigate the suspicion of receiving a luxury bag from Lady Kim Geon-hee, he said, “Isn’t there a tense relationship forming between the prosecution and the presidential office?” and added, “If the prosecution really had the will to investigate, they should have done the investigation earlier, and now whether they have come to their senses or reflect the internal tense relationship should be closely monitored by the public as sovereign citizens.”
