On the third day of official campaigning for the 21st presidential election on the 14th, key candidates such as Lee Jae-myung from the Democratic Party, Kim Moon-soo from the People Power Party, and Lee Jun-seok from the Reform Party are focusing on winning the support of voters in the PK (Busan and Gyeongnam) region. The previous day, they campaigned in Daegu and Gyeongbuk (TK), and they will continue their efforts in the same region. The PK region is considered unpredictable, with a fluctuating voter base in each election, prompting major candidates to focus their efforts there early on.
Lee Jae-myung plans to visit Busan and other locations in South Gyeongsang Province to expand his support base. Starting his day by paying respects at the UN Memorial Cemetery in Nam-gu, Busan, Lee will then engage in intensive campaigning near Jeonju Taehwa in Seomyeon, Busan-jin District. He will later visit Changwon, Tongyeong, and Geoje. His visit marks his first to Busan since a meeting with Busan Mayor Park Hyeong-jun in March. Lee’s intention is to broaden his appeal in traditionally challenging areas for the Democratic Party like the Yeongnam region.
Kim Moon-soo is pushing hard to consolidate his support in the conservative stronghold of Yeongnam. He will begin his day at Jinjung Market in South Gyeongsang Province, followed by a visit to the Aerospace Administration in Sacheon, a lunch with aviation sector officials, and visits to Changwon Industrial Complex, Milyang, and Tongdosa in Yangsan. This intensive focus on the region is seen as an attempt to regain support from the traditional conservative base.
Kim, during a launch ceremony at the Busan office of the People Power Party the previous day, used strong rhetoric to criticize Lee Jae-myung, calling for harsh action against “liars and those who curse at their in-laws,” and questioned the inability of certain parties to relocate the Industrial Bank of Korea, indicating a focus on retaining core conservative support.
Meanwhile, Lee Jun-seok will start his day visiting Sungkyunkwan Confucian Association in Busan, have lunch with students at Busan National University, then meet with religious leaders at Beomeosa, followed by engaging with citizens through street campaigns at Jagalchi Market and downtown Seomyeon. His campaign emphasizes communication with youth and discussions on future topics.
