Na Kyung-won stated, “We are considering filing a party-level complaint against Choo Mi-ae for abuse of authority… It’s a dictatorship abusing the National Assembly Act.”

On the 24th, Na Kyung-won, a member of the People Power Party, expressed at a press briefing related to the Legislation and Judiciary Committee in the National Assembly that she is considering filing charges against Choo Mi-ae, the Chairperson of the National Assembly’s Legislation and Judiciary Committee from the Democratic Party, for abuse of authority. Na argued that Choo used her authority as the Chairperson to interfere with other members’ rights to speak and debate, which she believes constitutes an abuse of power.

Na also criticized a previous incident where Choo reportedly invoked disciplinary powers to call in 15 security personnel, surrounding the four members of her party, suggesting this was a form of “parliamentary dictatorship.”

Na further addressed attempts by some in the political sphere to link her and Choo in a rivalry dubbed “Chuna War,” expressing great displeasure and calling it a demeaning narrative when significant issues concerning the nation’s wellbeing are at stake.

Additionally, Na discussed plans to demand a hearing related to Supreme Court Chief Justice Cho Hee-dae. She claimed there is public concern over allegations that manipulated evidence is being used to reverse a verdict involving President Lee Jae-myung, and intends to demand the adoption of a plan for a relevant hearing.

Na also targeted recent remarks by Democratic Party representative Jeong Cheong-rae, who reportedly dismissed the importance of the Chief Justice’s authority, labeling such comments dangerous to constitutional integrity.

In a Q&A session, Na accused the ruling party of proposing a law targeting the Supreme Court Chief Justice, which she argues is a move to transform the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) into a tool for the Democratic Party’s directives.

Finally, regarding rumors of potential candidacies, Na refuted speculations on her potential run for Seoul Mayor, citing a critical constitutional crisis and the need to focus on national issues over personal political ambitions. She also emphasized that normalizing the Judiciary Committee requires a change in what she describes as Choo Mi-ae’s excessive ambition and called for a fair operation of the committee.
