The military has heightened its surveillance posture against North Korea ahead of the Constitutional Court’s announcement of the impeachment trial verdict for President Yoon Suk-yeol on the 4th.
According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the military expanded and reinforced the operation of surveillance equipment, such as reconnaissance aircraft, radar, and thermal observation devices (TOD), before the impeachment trial scheduled for 11 a.m. Major commanders are on standby in a state of readiness.
It appears they are maintaining a thorough state of readiness around the time of the impeachment trial verdict. A military official stated, “We are strengthening surveillance to prevent any miscalculations by North Korea.”
After the results of the impeachment trial are released, Acting Minister of National Defense Kim Seon-ho is expected to preside over a meeting with key military commanders to review the military’s state of readiness.
