**Lee Proposes Public Debate on Tax Reform to Kwon Seong-dong, “Are You Still Clinging to Tax Cuts for the Super-rich?”**
**People Power Party Proposes Unlimited Debate… “Discuss All Issues, Not Just Inheritance Tax”**
Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, has proposed a public debate on tax reform to the ruling party, which has been countered by the People Power Party with a suggestion for an “unlimited debate” that does not limit the topic.
Kim Dae-sik, the chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, met with reporters at the National Assembly on the 24th and stated, “Representative Lee has been consistently requesting a debate with Kwon Seong-dong, the floor leader of our party,” while expressing agreement and support for an unlimited one-on-one debate.
Kim emphasized, “Both the format and the topic are open,” proposing debates not only on tax reform topics like inheritance tax and earned income tax but also on all current issues spanning political, economic, social, and cultural aspects.
He added, “If (Lee) refrains from using foul and hostile language such as calling the People Power Party a ‘far-right rebel party,’ we would gladly engage in the debate.”
Previously, Lee had proposed a public debate on inheritance tax reform to floor leader Kwon, sharing a post by Democratic Party lawmaker Im Kwang-hyun. In the post, Lee questioned, “Are you still clinging to tax cuts for the super-rich? If you’re truly honest and confident, let’s hold a public debate without deceit.”
