[Financial News] On the 19th, Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, once again urged the Constitutional Court for a swift ruling.
At the on-site supreme council meeting held at Gwanghwamun in Seoul in the morning, Lee stated, “The mismanagement of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration and the December 3 martial law are ultimately ruining the country.”
Lee also mentioned, “Sweden’s Institute for Democracy and Diversity has evaluated our country as a dictatorial state for the second consecutive year. A model democratic nation has somehow transformed into a nation progressing towards dictatorship,” criticizing President Yoon for reviving a military coup 45 years later and destroying liberal democracy despite proclaiming to uphold it.
Additionally, Lee pointed out that “U.S. Secretary of Defense Peter Heghes excluded South Korea from his Indo-Pacific tour. It’s a bypass,” he said. He analyzed that the reason lies in the confusion in state affairs and political instability, stating, “At a time of grand transition in the international order, when every moment is crucial for national interests, the government fails to provide meticulous responses, making security bypass all too common.”
Lee also warned about the potential re-negotiation of the Korea-U.S. FTA, adding that the golden time for tariff negotiations is slipping away, and attributing all these crises to the ongoing confusion in state affairs.
He emphasized, “Now is the time for everyone to come together for the prompt normalization of South Korea. Only by restoring proper leadership can we overcome crises,” and stressed the urgent need to dispel international distrust to prove the resilience of the Republic of Korea.
