Lee Jae-myung: “Political state of emergency… A regime plotting war and breaking the law”

Lee Jae-myung, the leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, strongly criticized the government on the 1st, stating, “Politics is about solving issues related to livelihood, but it seems like instead of addressing a very poor economic situation, the government is contemplating war.”

During an emergency joint meeting with regional chairs and lawmakers of the Democratic Party, Lee expressed concern over the severity of the current situation, describing it as a “political emergency.” He suggested that the national governance has significantly deviated from a normal path.

Lee criticized the government for allegedly committing illegal acts, such as providing lethal weapons in violation of laws, deploying military forces without parliamentary approval, and the National Intelligence Service interrogating foreign prisoners of war. He pointed out these actions as violations of laws and treaties.

He further emphasized, “This government, which our citizens expected to uphold the law, seems to be the one breaking it the most. The essence of law is fairness, and not only has this fairness been completely undermined, but the attitude of ‘What will you do if it’s breached?’ is extraordinarily concerning.”

Lee urged regional chairs to come together and gather wisdom to ensure that the nation follows the right path, encouraging them to provide valuable insights.
