Seoul Campaign on the 28th: ‘Presidential Election Pledge Book’ Announcement
Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, visited the square at Pyeongnae-Hopyeong Station in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, on the afternoon of the 26th to encourage early voting.
According to News1 reporters Han Jae-joon, Kim Kyung-min, and Im Yoon-ji, candidate Lee plans to vote early on the 29th at Sinchon in Seoul. By voting in Sinchon, an area bustling with universities, he aims to encourage participation among younger voters.
The Democratic Party’s central election committee reports that Lee is considering voting early on the morning of the 29th in Sinchon, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The choice of Sinchon is symbolic, as it’s a hub for young people, including university students. This decision aims to boost participation among the younger generation, particularly those in their 20s and 30s.
According to a voter awareness survey conducted by the National Election Commission, the intention to vote among those in their 20s (18-29 years old) stands at 75.3%. This is an increase of 8.9 percentage points from the last presidential election survey but is still lower compared to other age groups.
Cho Seung-rae, spokesperson for the Democratic Party’s election committee, stated that while they do not have a specific target for early voting rates, there is an ongoing effort to encourage early voting among key members. Additionally, various campaigns are underway, gathering successful examples to spread nationwide.
Meanwhile, candidate Lee will campaign in Seoul on the 28th and plans to release his ‘Presidential Election Pledge Book’ the same day.
